By Felice Cohen-Joppa

Tucson and Phoenix peace activists held a peace vigil outside the entrance of Raytheon Missile Systems early in the morning of September 20, holding signs as workers arrived. One of the signs quoted Pope Francis: “It is Our Duty to Stop the Arms Trade”. Raytheon is the largest private employer in southern Arizona, and they have hailed Tucson as the Missile Technology Capital of the World.  At their Tucson missile factory, Raytheon manufactures surveillance drones and weapons for armed drones, Standard Missiles and Star Wars “kill vehicles”, Mavericks and AMRAAMs, microwave crowd control beams, cluster bombs and cruise missiles.
