Blessed Are the Peacemakers In Huntington

Posted by Erin Bechtol

“We’re addicted to violence. The only healing is nonviolence,” said John Dear, one of three Pace e Bene leaders to speak at the Blessed Are the Peacemakers conference last weekend. He was joined by Ken Butigan and Kit Evans-Ford, working with the Victory Noll Center to educate participants in nonviolent grass-roots movements.

The conference, held July 28-29 in Huntington, Indiana, included a panel discussion, call to pray, and nonviolence training intended to demonstrate to attendees that nonviolence is a powerful choice in a violent world. The Victory Noll Center organized this event in a community scarred by a recent record number of homicides.

Sue Wilhelm, Victory Noll Center director, hopes that this conference will create a ripple effect from the people who attend into their personal lives, their neighborhoods, and on to a global scale.
