Peace, Doves, and Dancing in Asheville

Posted by Erin Bechtol
09.26.17

WNC 4 Peace celebrated the International Day of Peace with a gathering in Asheville, NC. North Carolina Rep. Susan Fisher read a Proclamation of Peace in addition to the proclamations from the city of Asheville and Buncombe County read earlier in the day. A ballerina from Moscow Ballet’s Great Nutcracker danced a segment of a performance called “Land of Peace and Harmony.” Later that day, ballerina Olena Pedan, Rachael Bliss, and one of three Peacemakers of the Year Amy Cantrell  were interviewed on WPVM FM radio. Other Peacemakers of Year were activist Anne Craig and Heather Heyer, victim of white racist in Charlottesville. To close out the day, white doves released and a double blast of peace movies were screened at Grail Moviehouse. See photos below.
