Prayer at the Fargo, ND Peace Pole

by Cathy Schwinden  // Part of the Campaign Nonviolence Week of Actions

Eight groups of children, from kindergarten to 5th grade, visited our Peace Pole, one of the first to be erected in Fargo.  We talked about how we could create a peaceful classroom and why “May peace prevail in earth” in Spanish, Lakota and Arabic were a part of our pole, We prayed for world peace and especially for  the children who were not able to attend school because of violence or prejudice.  As many had visited the Peace Pole last year, a highlight for me was that they remembered so much from our last  “mini-field trip” there.
