Kansas City Art Fair with Music, Peace Work, and More

Posted by Erin Bechtol

by Ann Suellentrop  // Part of the Campaign Nonviolence Week of Actions

We have advertised on our community radio station several times with participating artists and musicians and PeaceWork board members.  We posted the event on FaceBook, mailed postcards advertising the fair, and placed yard signs and fliers throughout the city.  We have 111 artists participating and about 10 non-profits.  Several musicians will busk during the fair.  This is our 28th year for the fair, but this year we will emphasize peace issues for the first time prominently.  A group called Love Thy Neighbor will do one-on-one and/or group listening sessions regarding neighborhood issues.  It looks like good weather this year!  As usual, we feature local artists and affordable art, and artists give a percentage of their sales to benefit PeaceWorks.  PeaceWorks does a variety of things all year to address issues of peacemaking locally, nationally and internationally.
