Rupert, VT Trains Nonviolent Youth

by Glenn Cratty  // Part of the Campaign Nonviolence Week of Actions

At the Rupert, VT Congregational Church Meetinghouse we presented a three and a half hour NV training for youth who had been active in March for Our Lives events or wanted to get more involved. Using four YouTube Ted Talks (including Ken’s at DePaul) as the jumping off points for discussion, the kids got very involved in sharing and learning. Although the group was smaller than we had hoped, it allowed us to go deeper and for the youth to be more engaged.

Steve Berry and I felt that as amazing as the March for Our Lives events were, not many of the young people had been trained in Nonviolence. If they are to continue their involvement in the movement (which will be for the long haul) youth need to be trained in NVDA as MLK always insisted.
