Oakland Federal Building
1301 Clay Street
two blocks from 12th Street BART
Covered with sheets to represent the dead of the wars of occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan people lie down on the city sidewalk in front of the Federal Building.
Participants lie at least five feet apart and do not block entry to the building.
The names of some of the Californians in the U.S. military who have died in war and the names of some of the Iraqi dead are read. Also read are the names of Palestinians who were killed in the attack on Gaza in 2014 and the names of some of the people of color killed by police or “security” forces in the U.S. Some people will hand out flyers. The spirit of this event is one of mourning and dedication to peace.
Please bring a white sheet to cover yourself with. A pad to lie on is recommended.
