Camp Ripley open house/drone protest front gate
Camp Ripley (established 1856) near Little Falls, Minnesota, is the largest military training base in the Midwest. Soldiers are trained at Camp Ripley to operate Shadow Drones, which are weaponized and, according to Camp Ripley Range Regulations, currently are used for bombing.
Official time set by the Brainerd Area Coalition for Peace is 11am-2pm for a peaceful protest and vigil at the front main gate at Camp Ripley on September 20, 2015, with a potluck to follow at Belle Prairie Park (2 miles away). Camp Ripley’s open house Community Appreciation Day (a recruitment/retention activity) is 10am-3pm. Robin Hensel will be provide a table outside the gates and to offer sandwiches, chips, beverages, and desserts to all who join the protest.
Members of Alliant Action (a group originally formed to protest weapons manufacturer Alliant Tech Systems, which moved to the D.C. area), are joining Little Falls Occ-U-PIE and Brainerd Area Coalition for Peace in a nonviolent action at Camp Ripley. Alliant Action endorses this action.
