CNV and Tri-Valley Cares: Write a Letter to the Editor for Nonviolence (Livermore, CA)
Thursday, October 1st at 5:30 PM
Write a letter to the editor of your favorite newspaper in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. Our suggested topic is the urgency of peace, justice, nonviolence and a nuclear weapons free world. What draws you to peace? What would you wish to share about justice with others in a letter? What excites you about your participation in Campaign Nonviolence? How does nuclear disarmament fit in this picture?
If you are in the Bay Area, come to Livermore, near Livermore Labs, one of two locations that has designed every nuclear weapon in the US arsenal! Join others for a letter writing party. Your letter could be read by tens of thousands in a major newspaper. You may never know the number of people YOUR letter might inspire.
Tri-Valley CAREs welcomes beginners and experienced letter writers. We will offer a short “how to” on writing successful letters and have handouts to get you started. Snacks and refreshments will be served.
Tri-Valley CAREs works to strengthen global security by stopping the development of new nuclear weapons in the US and promoting the elimination of nuclear weapons globally. Nuclear weapons decrease rather than increase human security. Nuclear weapons pose one of the great social, economic and ecological challenges of our time.
