Exploring Violence and Active Nonviolence with ARGROW “KIT” EVANS-FORD,  M.A., M.A.T., M.Div.

Kit-Evans-greenArgrow “Kit” Evans-Ford is a national trainer and speaker for Pace e Bene Nonviolence Services and has been touring since early this year on behalf of Campaign Non- violence.  Born in North Carolina, she has studied and worked in the U.S. and overseas, including Africa and the Caribbean, focusing especially on nonviolence education, violence prevention and helping people heal from violence and abuse.  Surviving a violent sexual assault on her life in 2008 caused her to become even more deeply committed to promoting the power of nonviolent social change.  Her educational background includes degrees in Communications and Afro- American Studies, Teaching Special Education, Social Justice & Com-munity Development  as well as a Master of Divinity degree.

SATURDAY : Kit will be with us on Saturday to lead us in exploring Jesus’ vision and method of active nonviolence, reflecting on the power and principles of active nonviolence through concrete examples, practicing tools for unleashing active nonviolence in our everyday lives and in changing the world, and reflecting on nonviolence, community, and the Peaceable Kin-dom.

SUNDAY: (Mass is celebrated at 9:00 a.m. in the chapel) Our final session (without Kit) will offer time to continue our focus on Pax Christi Maine: deepening and strengthening our commitment to active nonviolence, spreading Campaign Non-violence in Maine, promoting the development of new local Pax Christi groups, strengthening and expanding peace and justice networking, etc.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? Pax Christi Maine welcomes members, friends and all those who are committed to or wish to join the growing movement to end war, poverty, injustice and the climate crisis.
