The thermometer read 101 and still about 100 peace enthusiasts gathered under the shade of Brother Tree to celebrate our Second Annual UN International Day of Peace at Aztec Park in La Mesa, CA on September 20th. Crafts, clowns, ecumenical and interfaith conversations, and opportunities to welcome 7 new refugees from Sudan provided informal segues to the main event. The heart of the Program consisted of brief, challenging insights shared by young adult representatives from five interfaith traditions and five musical interludes provided by younger and older choirs and a guitar group. We are already making plans to expand and change our focus for the Third Annual event next year.
