Cameroon Celebrates Peace Day

The Cameroon Active Youth Association held their peace day event during the 2017 Campaign Nonviolence Week of Actions.  The organizer Kungaba Fongoh Leonel said,

The security context in Cameroon today permits us to put an accent on peace. As we can not achieve sustainable education without peace.

In this line in my capacity as Global Youth Ambassador decided to celebrate with children in school by discussing issues related to peace.

As a matter of facts the children really enjoyed their selves and it was a very great experience to see that children of this age know much about the basic notions of peace building.

– First we had 215 pupils and 22 primary school teachers from the NOULA INTERNATIONAL COMPLEX YAOUNDE to celebrate this day.

– Secondly we gathered the children and started by asking them questions on what they know about peace and the importance of peace for education. Then the children responded positively and gave some good answers related to the questions. We proceeded by giving them a lecture on the international peace day genesis and the theme of this year 2017.

– Finally we had some group games to promote peace and education SDG 4 and 16 and had our group pictures for the end.”

Here is my quote:
” A crucial part of peace education is exposing pupils and students to the personal joys of service, giving them a chance to become, in Martin Luther King Junior’s words”other centered” not”self centered”
